Karli, what is your favorite rear-facing only (infant) car seat?
I'm glad you asked., because we get this question a lot, While there are a lot of great rear-facing only seats on the market, my favorite hands-down is the Chicco KeyFit 30. Chicco (pronounced key-co) is an Italian brand and is a breeze to install, reducing the risk for error. This seat has worked in every car I've tried it in, gets a rock solid install easily, and has great bright orange colored buttons that make it easy for parents to know where to press to loosen harnesses, extend the base foot, etc. It also has the loveliest fabric patterns I've seen (I love when a parent brings in a pattern I've yet to see, my favorite this month is denim!). This seat is what I would've purchased for my boys when they were born, had I known better.
There are two KeyFit models and I prefer the KeyFit 30 over the plain KeyFit. This is simply because the KeyFit 30 has a higher weight limit. KeyFit 30's weight limit is 30 pounds, while the KeyFit is 22. While most infants outgrown their rear-facing only (infant) seats between 12-18 months, the KeyFit 30 buys you a little more time and use.
